I’ve always kept a floral dress or two in my closet, but this year I’ve seen them more than ever, and I’m ready to upgrade my summer wardrobe.

Celebrities like Reese Witherspoon, Gayle King, and Nicky Hilton have recently worn the vibrant summer dress style in different patterns and silhouettes. Before that, stars like Parker Posey and Joanna Gaines sold me on flowy, maxi styles of the trend.

When I bought this dress I wanted to channel Anna Kendrick in Another Simple Favor, with her adorable sweetheart neckline dresses and bright, floral patterns. This casual alternative is so incredibly soft.

I wore this to the 2025 Preakness Stakes opening day and, though it was 85 degrees Fahrenheit outside, I was never hot. It has pockets, too, and not those shallow, useless ones. They were big enough to hold small essentials, like my lip gloss, hotel key card, ID, and betting tickets. Because it has lots of colors, it’s easy to find shoes to wear with this dress, making it versatile for different summer occasions.

This maxi dress is one of the most lightweight pieces of clothing I’ve ever worn. It’s a must for those record high temperature days. I got lots of compliments on it when I wore it to a nice group dinner. My favorite features are the cute back-tie detail and dynamic floral color combo.

I’m about 5 feet 7 inches tall, and the hem hits right at my ankles, but because it’s so flowy and weightless it didn’t trip me. I plan to wear the dress with translucent block heels for my next date night.

The large red flowers on this dress remind me of King and Hilton’s red carpet picks. It’s one of my favorite floral patterns, and I love the vintage swing dress feel. The adjustable straps and smocked back on the bodice allows you to to customize the fit, while the knee-length A-line skirt lets you get plenty of airflow around your legs. I like the dress so much, I’m also eyeing it in the orange flower pattern.
